Discover Cedar Key, Florida's rich history and future plans!

This artistic rendering of Cedar Key's lovely historic district graces the wall next to the entrance of our spectacular museum. Inside you will have the opportunity to learn more about how this city came to be a rich and bustling Florida pioneer community at the end of the railroad line from Fernandina Beach. Why did people come to this island paradise back in the 1800's? What work did they do? Who were these people who built the city on two different islands? You will find answers to these questions and even information about the ancient people who lived in the area before the Spanish and French explorers arrived.
